This Week’s Recap

Fairly short week. Feeling a little burnt out after taking so many certs recently but I’ve only got a few more in my backlog. Can’t wait to get back to building out my homelab. I have plenty of awesome things I want to build out.

10/31/2022

  • Happy Halloween.
  • Spent most of the day learning about and using different rust crates to make some simple programs

11/01/2022

  • Took my first GCED practice exam and ended up getting a 94%

11/02/2022

  • Finished chapter 11 and 18 of the CISSP. I’m skipping around to the areas I’m most weak in. My goal is not to memorize 100% of the content of CISSP, I would much rather reclaim some of my free time than get a perfect score on the exam. Especially considering it is unlikely I will ever be in a position that requires CISSP.

  • Did literally nothing

  • Passed my GCED exam (🎉🎉🎉)
    • Had literally the worst testing experience of my life. Logged into my exam at 8:10 (through the at home testing option) and IMMEDIATELY spilled my entire mug of coffee all over my index, keyboard, mouse, and books. Had to run out of the room to get paper towels and a new keyboard because my current one kept typing 33333333 every few seconds… Tried calling the proctor and he didn’t show up until I was a few questions away from being done with the exam. I ended up passing with an 81% (much lower than my practice test) because my index was unusable. Mostly my fault but still a terrible experience.
  • Made a mastodon to see what all the hype was about. Really cool to see so many infosec people over at https://infosec.exchange
  • You can find me @Graham on https://infosec.exchange.
  • Checked out https://updatedsecurity.com/invites.html and made a few posts. Got some really in depth answers about Go vs C vs Rust.

  • Today I’m working on a blog on all the little tricks I’ve picked up over the past few years about how I study for certs.
